WHY TAKE THIS PROGRAM?
Our mission is to give you a view of a world that survives and thrives on less than $5 a day per capita. As you immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of Tanzania, travelling across its plains, visiting Maasai villages, volunteering in a service project, and going on safari in the Serengeti, you see the diversity of this beautiful land. The people you meet help you gain an understanding of the challenges they face concerning religious differences, conflicting values and political allegiances. All of this is woven into the literature we read, debates we conduct, and discussions we digest, over 60 days, to provide you with a serious step in becoming a world citizen.

The final destination of our journey takes students to the island of Zanzibar. There, they learn about East Africa’s unique position as a historic trade centre, with a broad range of cultural influences. Students also engage in Individual Study Unit interviews with teachers, write final exams and prepare for their journey home. Students have a chance to relax along Zanzibar’s white beaches looking out over turquoise waters, and to celebrate with a feast of biryani, maandazi, and coconut curry.
